A petition has been launched to make the A40 safer between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. The petition has been launched by Hayley Boyd, who sadly lost her brother in a RTC on this stretch of road.
To make the A40 between Ross-On-Wye and Monmouth, in particular between the slip road for Symonds Yat West and the slip road in Ganarew safer.
Why: To hopefully prevent any further fatalities or road traffic accidents on this section of the dual carriageway.
This dual carriageway from Ross-On-Wye to Monmouth but more in particular the section between the slip road for the Symonds Yat West and the slip road back onto the dual carriage way at Ganarew is in extremely dark, windey and very fast moving. Back in 2018 I lost my brother in a road traffic accident by Daff-Y-Nant Service Station in a road traffic accident and for the last two years I have sat not knowing what to do to attempt to make things safer for everyone and this is what I have come to.
To give you an idea, the night of losing my brother over 500 cars went past before someone saw his bright red bike and called the police. I cannot stress enough that this even happened on a regular Thursday night, it wasn’t even a busy Friday night.
I am asking you all, please spare 5 minutes to sign this petition to raise awareness of how fast and dangerous this section of the dual carriageway really is and help me gain the awareness and support needed to try and make this area safer. This will then get passed onto those who I hope will put together an action plan in which they will conclude how to make the road safer. Thank you.
