Parts of Herefordshire and surrounding counties have woken up to a covering of snow this morning, on the day that non-essential retail and outdoor hospitality is allowed to reopen.

Some parts of the county have seen the most snow they’ve had all year, with close to four inches of snow reported close to the Malvern Hills and near Bromyard.

The band of sleet and snow has moved south and with temperatures set to rise up to around 9c, any snow should start to melt relatively quickly from mid-morning, which will be seen as good news for pub owners looking to open their outdoor spaces.

The unseasonal weather has been with us with a few days now, but temperatures are set to rise over the coming days, with temperatures rising as we head through the week, but the risk of overnight frosts will remain at least until next weekend.
