Parents are being urged to remain vigilant, following a concerning incident involving a child playing on a games console.
On a local Facebook messageboard, a parent said:
“Good evening all parents.
“Be careful what your children do while playing Fortnite.
“Today my son played with a player and then he offered him a gift card.
“Of course, like any child, he gladly accepted the offer. My bank card was saved in the PlayStation account.
“The stranger told him to download the PlayStation Store application and enter the code he gave him. He did so thoughtlessly £100 disappeared from my account,
“PlayStation shows the purchase of games that are not on my son’s account, with no contact from PlayStation about the fraud and hack of my son’s account for his own benefit.
“My mistake for leaving the saved card in memory as well.
“So parents, keep your eyes open.”
