Over 50 people have tested positive for COVID-19 at a care home in Worcester, Public Health England has confirmed.
The public health department at Worcestershire County Council said 33 residents and 18 members of staff at St Stephen’s Care Home had the virus.
Dr. Kathryn Cobain, the Director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “Worcestershire County Council is working with Public Health England to support St.Stephen’s Care Home in Worcester, following an outbreak of COVID-19.
“33 residents and 18 staff have tested positive at the care home and are now self-isolating for 10 days. Close contacts are being identified and told to self-isolate for 14 days, in accordance with the national guidance.
“Public Health partners are working closely with the home to ensure prevention measures are in place and we continue to work collectively to monitor the situation and to ensure all necessary action is taken.”
