Over 250 local residents have responded to a planning application for 1,200 new homes to be built at Three Elms in Hereford. Many have shared their concerns over the potential impact these new properties could cause, such as flooding and increased traffic levels.

Ms Holland, a resident that has put in an objection to the plans said:

“I appreciate new houses need to be built, however this does seem a very large number of houses to be built so maybe it is overdevelopment. If it does go ahead I am hoping that preserving the nature that is there and making it a nature friendly development is high on the agenda.”

Mr Bone, a resident that has put in an objection to the plans said:

“Have councils not understood the obvious problems of building on flood plains? Difficulties will be exacerbated with global warming.”

Mr Kidson, a resident that has put in an objection to the plans said:

“Totally unsuitable for Hereford with no proper infrastructure for transport and other amenities. It will destroy the rural nature of the city and seems out of line with the green agenda.”

Mr Eversham, a resident that has put in an objection to the plans said:

“I do not agree with building on areas that flood, causing more problems. Also the amount of cars/traffic this would bring to an already congested Whitecross Road.”
