Public Health England has confirmed that one further case of Coronavirus has been recorded in Herefordshire today, taking the total number of new cases this week to two. The total number of cases recorded since the outbreak started now stands at 877.

In the United Kingdom, a further 880 positive cases were recorded, with 120 further COVID-19 related deaths recorded in all settings. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the United Kingdom since the outbreak started now stands at 46,119.

The government today delayed a further relaxation of the Coronavirus lockdown due to a concern over the rise in cases in England.

Boris Johnson said:

“On Saturday August 1, you’ll remember we had hoped to reopen a number of the higher-risk settings that had remained closed and today I’m saying we’re postponing those changes for at least a fortnight,” he said.

“That means until August 15 at the earliest casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and the remaining close-contact services must remain closed.

“Indoor performances will not resume, pilots of larger gatherings in sports venues and conference centres will not take place, and wedding receptions of up to 30 people will not be permitted.”
