Motorists are being advised to expect delays, with nine weeks of work set to commence shortly to improve the St Owen Street Cycle Contraflow Scheme in Hereford.

The work, at no additional cost to Herefordshire Council, or the taxpayer, was identified several weeks ago, and will commence on Tuesday 6th June.

The work will take approximately nine weeks to complete.

A letter that was sent to businesses in the area has been seen by Your Herefordshire and it confirms that there will be no extra cost for this work that will be carried out by Balfour Beatty.

Lane closures and parking restrictions are likely to be in place on St Owen Street and the surrounding area and motorists are advised to plan ahead.

Businesses will remain open and pedestrians will continue to have access to the street as normal.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council said:

“Remedial works will be carried out on St Owen St following a quality review of the initial works undertaken as part of the cycle contraflow scheme.

“Disruption will be minimal during the works.

“These works will be carried out at no additional cost to Herefordshire Council.”
