There are difficult driving conditions in parts of Herefordshire, with snow settling in places.
The A49 (Dinmore Hill) is currently closed at Queenswood following a collision.
National Highways Update:
The A49 in Herefordshire is closed in both directions between the A417 (near Hope under Dinmore) and A4103 (near Hereford) due to a serious collision.
Following a serious collision on the A49 near Dinsmore the road has been closed to allow West Mercia Police to lead a multi agency response at scene.
Diversion Route
Southbound road users are advised to follow the ‘Solid Circle’ diversion symbol on road signs
- Exit the A49 southbound and turn left onto the A417 towards Gloucester/Bodenham
- Continue on the A417 for approximately 6 miles to the roundabout with the A465 at Burley Gate.
- Take the second exit to remain on the A417 and continue to the traffic light controlled junction with the A1403 at Newtown.
- Turn right onto the A1403 towards Hetreford and remain on the A1402 for approximately 7 miles to the junction with the A49 to continue your journey.
Northbound road users are advised to follow the ‘Solid Triangle’ diversion symbol on road signs
- At the roundabout with the A1403 take the third exit onto the A1403 towards Worcester and continue for approximately 7 miles to the traffic light controlled junction with the A417 at Newtown.
- At the junction turn right onto the A417 towards Gloucester/Ledbury.
- Travel along the A417 to the roundabout with the A465 at Burley Gate and take the second exit to continue on the A417.
- Remain on the A417 for approximately 6 miles to reach the junction with the A49 and continue your journey.
If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:
“Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A49 at Dinmore, Herefordshire at around 9.30am this morning (Tuesday 19 November).
“Three people are being treated for potentially serious injuries.
“One person has been arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:
“We were called to reports of a two-car RTC on Dinmore Hill, Leominster at 9.27am.
“We sent two ambulances to the scene. On arrival crews found three patients.
“A man, who was the driver of one car, who ambulance staff treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying him to Hereford County Hospital under blue light driving conditions.
“A second patient, a teenage boy, who was the passenger in the same car, was treated for minor injuries before being conveyed to Hereford County Hospital.
“The third patient, a woman, who was the driver of a second vehicle, was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Hereford Hospital.”
Areas such as Bromyard have also seen some heavy snow.

With snow settling and set to continue all morning Wigmore High School will be closed today. Lessons will be on Microsoft Teams.
Earl Mortimer College:
EMC is closed today due to snow which has affected many staff and their safe access to school. Work will be set using Show My Homework for all students.
Brockhampton Primary School:
EARLY SCHOOL CLOSURE. Parents can collect from 12:00. We are closing the school at 12:45 due to continued bad weather and road conditions for parents & staff.
