Mountain Rescue Teams were called out on Wednesday afternoon to help assist a lady walker.

“Brecon Beacons Mountain Rescue were called out this afternoon by Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police to assist with a lady walker suffering the effects of hypothermia near Fan Y Big in the Central Brecon Beacons area.

“The call for help was made by a group who were passing by. We must thank and pay tribute to the members of Royal Air Force RRC Crickhowell who were on one of their outdoor training days and without hesitation raised the alarm before interrupting their planned walk to ensure the safe escort of the lady off Fan Y Big to the “Gap Road” then south down the Neuadd valley to meet our team members.

“Upon meeting our 4×4 response vehicle and team members, the lady was checked over by our casualty care medics.

After being rewarmed, provided with food and warm drinks we ensured she was safely on her way to her accommodation.

“There is little sign of a warm spring making an appearance across the mountains and we’d urge everyone heading to the tops to please be equipped, for now, ready for cold wind and rain.”
