Morrisons is today cutting the price of a further 490 products and extending a commitment to its customers that it will have over 1,000 prices locked low for at least eight weeks.
As well as the 460 price cuts, over 600 items have been locked at their already low price – many of which have been held at that price since January.
The move follows Morrisons announcement in January that it would hold the price of the 1,000 cuts it was making then for the next two months.
It means customers can be reassured that despite this inflationary market the price of these 1,000 items will not increase and will instead be locked to help them plan their grocery budgets.
The price cuts are on a wide range of everyday products including dairy items, fresh meat and fish, fruit and vegetables and freezer fillers as well as baby essentials and pet food.
The cuts aim to help customers’ money go further as the cost of living crisis continues to impact household grocery budgets.
Of the new items to be offered at lower prices, some of the biggest cuts are on Fillippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml which is down from £6.49 to £4.50, Meridian Crunchy Peanut Butter 475g now £3.00 from £3.80 and Purina ONE Cat Salmon & Rice 800g at £4.99 from £7.40.
Morrisons has invested £148 million in recent months to cut prices. As well as the 1,000 cuts in January, a further 65 own brand products were cut in price in February.
In addition, there have been two 5p off fuel offers, the launch of My Morrisons Exclusives for My Morrisons members plus the introduction of new offers and promotions in Morrisons cafés including an £8.99 set menu.
There is also an Easter collector scheme currently live for eligible My Morrisons members enabling them to receive a significant money-off voucher to spend at Easter if they meet the criteria and shop in the relevant weeks.
Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer & Marketing Officer at Morrisons, said: “In January we cut the price of 1,000 products and committed to keeping them at that price for at least eight weeks. We’re now going again with a second wave of activity to keep prices locked low well into the Spring. Today’s news is further evidence of our commitment to drive down prices and help make a positive difference to our customers’ pockets.”
