More than 1,000 vaccine doses were administered at a COVID-19 pop up vaccine clinic in Leominster on Sunday, with people braving the queues to receive first doses, second doses and booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
With complaints recently about people having to travel as far as Bristol, Malvern, Dudley and Cheltenham to receive booster doses, hundreds of people took to the streets of Leominster to queue early yesterday morning, prior to the clinic opening at 9.30am. It is estimated that at one point, more than 400 people were in the queue.
People quickly took to social media, include the venue that was hosting the pop up clinic (Leominster Community Centre) to warn people of the large queues that had formed.
It is hoped that more pop-up and walk in COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be opened in Herefordshire over the coming weeks. With COVID-19 infection rates on the rise, health officials will be keen to get as many people fully vaccinated as possible ahead of the busy festive period, in the hope of avoiding any new restrictions coming into place.
Currently in Herefordshire, 86% of those aged 12 and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with a total of 80.1% now having received a second dose.
