The Right Worshipful Mayor of Hereford Paul Stevens is urging members of the public to come forward to get tested for prostate cancer in Hereford, when the Welsh Club hosts a Prostate Cancer Testing Session next month.
Mayor of Hereford Paul Stevens said:
“I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October 2020. It had been a worrying time with first going to my GP a year earlier for a PSA test after needing to get up in the night to go to the toilet, most men do, don’t they?
“The PSA test suggested I needed to keep an eye on the levels so three months later another test had shown an increase so I was passed onto Urology for a scan which suggested I needed a biopsy in March 2020 which was cancelled because of Covid.
“So more worry until September 2020 when the biopsy took place and confirmed cancer. Within weeks I was in Cheltenham for a successful operation and I am now a year cancer free. So go and get checked out with a simple blood test.”
