The Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Mark Dykes, has made the following statement:
“It is with great sadness that I heard today of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. Hers has been the longest reign in British history and her example of duty, service and dignity has been an inspiration to us all.
“On behalf of the Council and the people of Hereford I extend our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family at this sad time. I also extend our best wishes to His Majesty the King and the Queen Consort.”
