A man is in a critical condition at hospital in Birmingham after an incident in Hereford on Sunday evening.
West Mercia Police officers were called to Rothesay Mead, in the Newton Farm area of Hereford shortly after 8pm on Sunday evening, following reports of a serious assault.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:
“Police were called shortly after 8pm this evening (3 July) to a report of a serious assault in Rothesay Mead, Hereford.
“The victim, a 59-year-old man, suffered life threatening injuries during the incident and has been transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he remains in a critical condition.
“A 55-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody.”
Detective Inspector Liz Warner, said: “I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat or risk to the wider community.
“Officers will remain on scene in Rothesay Mead overnight and in to tomorrow while our investigation continues.”
