A Worcestershire man has been jailed for rape.
Daniel Jones, 28, of Hancocks Lane, Welland, was sentenced to 17 years in prison at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday 12 November).
In April 2020 Jones contacted a woman on the social media app Whisper. He travelled to meet her in Norfolk, raped her and stole her wedding and engagement rings.
Then in January 2021, following further interaction on social media, he drove to meet a women in Somerset, took her back to his home address and raped her.
Very bravely, the victims came forward to officers who were able to identify Jones and arrest him.
Following investigations, he was subsequently charged with two counts of rape and found guilty at a trial in October 2021.
Detective Constable Carl Shenton said: “I would like to thank the victims for coming forward and giving their evidence, as well as the bravery they have shown in doing so.
“Hopefully this sentence will offer them some sort of closure and allow them to move forward with their lives.
“We urge anyone with any concerns about an incident either recently or in the past to get in touch.
“We investigate all reports we receive and anyone making a report is offered full and comprehensive support from specialist staff.”
