Malvern officers are putting the wheels in motion for more cycle patrols on their rural patch thanks to the donation of a second E-bike.
Police Constables Paul Slaymaker and Dave Olczak now have two full suspension matching E-bikes, seen here in these pictures.
Both bikes have been made possible thanks to two generous grants of £2,000 from The Malvern Hills National Landscape Partnership. The new bike received this month adds to the first one received in 2021.
PC Olczak of Malvern Police said: “We have made good use of the first bike over the last few years.
“It assists with searches for missing people, high visibility patrols and tackling crime and anti-social behaviour on the Malvern Hills.
He added the second bike allows him and PC Slaymaker to patrol in pairs or to cover a much larger area quicker in time critical incidents.
“The first bike has allowed us to effectively tackle a recent issue with electric motorbikes on the hills,” he added.
“We are lucky that we have a good working relationship with the Malvern Hills Trust and The Malvern Hills National Landscape Partnership and are grateful for their donation of the bikes.”
The E-bikes are ideal for allowing police officers and PCSOs to show a high visibility presence on the hills, offering added reassurance to members of the public enjoying the beautiful scenery.
