Major roadworks are set to cause significant delays on a busy route in Herefordshire.
Highways England have confirmed that work will take place on the A40 near Ross-on-Wye from 27th September 2021, until 21st January 2022.

When will the work take place:
27th September 2021 to 21st January 2022, Monday to Friday.
The work will be delivered in phases as follows;
• 27th September to 1st October, 8pm to 6am – Full carriageway closure of the A40 eastbound from the junction of the A40/A4137 and Wilton roundabout, including inner ring closure of Wilton roundabout.
• 4th October to 8th October, 8pm to 6am – Full closure of the A49 from Bannuttree Lane to Wilton roundabout, including A40 eastbound and westbound lane one closures. Partial outer ring closure to Wilton roundabout, no restrictions regarding access/egress to Wilton Road and The Pippins.
• 4th October to 25th October, 8am to 5pm – Lane one closure of the A40 eastbound, including hard shoulder and lay-by.
• 22nd November to 21st January, 8am to 5pm – Lane one closure of the A40 eastbound, including hard shoulder and lay-by.
Access to and from frontages that fall directly within the closure will be maintained throughout. No restrictions or traffic management will be in place from Thursday 23rd December 2021 to Tuesday 4th January 2022.
