Levels on the River Wye in Herefordshire are set to rise later this week, with heavy rainfall forecast over parts of Wales on Thursday.

The Met Office has issued a Weather Warning for parts of Wales on Thursday, but Dave Throup (Environment Agency Manager from Herefordshire and Worcestershire) is expecting the worst of the rainfall to fall further north and west meaning that the worst conditions should avoid the Wye catchment.

The Met Office warning for West and Mid Wales says:

“Outbreaks of heavy rain are expected to become persistent for periods causing impacts during Thursday and Friday. In general, 40-60 mm is expected within the warning area but 100-120 mm is likely over high ground with as much as 160 mm over Snowdonia.”
