Latest data released by NHS England shows no increase in the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 at hospital in Herefordshire.
Data up until 6th July indicates that one patient is currently being treated for COVID-19 at hospital in Herefordshire. This is the same as was recorded in the previous week.
This is despite a 120% increase in cases in the county, with 187 cases of COVID-19 recorded in Herefordshire in the seven day period ending 3rd July, up from 85 cases in the seven day period ending 26th June. Current levels of the virus indicate community spread across much of Herefordshire, with the vast majority of areas now recording an infection rate above 100 cases per 100,000 population.
Much of this reduction in cases reaching hospital is down the successful rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, with 82.9% of adults receiving their first Coronavirus jab in Herefordshire in data up until 7th July. 64.6% have now received a second jab, meaning that almost two thirds of the county are fully vaccinated.
