Jesse Norman – MP for Hereford and Herefordshire South, has this morning responded to claims made in The Sunday Times that his wife Kate Bingham, spent £670,000 of taxpayers money on PR consultants.
Yesterday evening the Financial Times reported that UK vaccines taskforce chair Kate Bingham is to step down from her post at the end of the year amid criticism that she spent £670,000 on public relations consultants. That’s after the initial report at the weekend in The Sunday Times.
Jesse Norman said:
“There has been some very disobliging and inaccurate press reporting about my wife Kate. But here is a fact. The UK purchased 30M doses of the Pfizer vaccine in July, later raising this to 40M doses. As head of the Vaccines Task Force, Kate personally sourced, negotiated and closed this deal. Now see the news below. Thank you Kate. I think we will find that the UK owes you a huge debt of gratitude for your work.”
