Jesse Norman (MP for Hereford & Herefordshire South) has congratulated Ann-Marie Probert on becoming the first Conservative councillor for Newton Farm, after she won the By Election yesterday.

Ann said. “Thank you to the residents of Newton Farm who have listened and trusted me with their vote, I am humbled by it. With certainty I will carry on listening and work on behalf of all residents in the ward.”

There was also a huge response to the news on social media, with many congratulating Ann-Marie on her victory, but many people were also shocked that an area of the city that ‘never voted blue’ had decided to vote and elect a Conservative councillor.

Newton Farm is one of the most deprived areas in the United Kingdom but Ann-Marie’s main promise was to push hard for a Western Bypass of Hereford and that’s what’s believed to have swayed the minds of many voters in the area.
