National Volunteering week is a weeklong celebration to showcase the amazing work that people are doing in their local community.
Matt Healey from Your Herefordshire met Rizqa at a community event this week and she told Your Herefordshire her story.
“My name is Rizqa El Fouz. and I came to Hereford around four years ago from Asia. I like Hereford because it is a place of beautiful countryside and full of lovely people who like to help each other”
We asked Rizqa who she volunteers with?
“I have been volunteering in Hereford with several organisations for example Healthwatch Herefordshire, The NHS, Taurus Healthcare, The Whitehouse Tupsley Community, Hit Squad Helper, HVOSS, Union Cafe, River Wye Carnival, 2faced Dance Academy, Vennture, The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, The Kindle Centre, Age UK and some others across the county”
Rizqa added.
“I like volunteering because I am a naturally caring person and I want to help people in the Herefordshire community. I have been involved in volunteering since I was a teenager in Indonesia”
Matt asked her why she gives up her time for others?
“Volunteering has given me a lot of lessons in life, for example, my self development, and giving me a lot of inspiration. I want to say a massive thank you to all the local organisations that have trust in me to involve in volunteering with them and I hope more young people are also interested in volunteering and in doing so can notice the benefit in volunteering, because there are a lot of organisations that still need our help out there”
