Graham Gundy was the first person in the queue at The Food Warehouse in Hereford at 1.30am this morning.
The Food Warehouse offered an incentive for the first 100 people visiting the new store this morning. Each customer was given a red envelope with a voucher containing anything from £5-£100.
Graham told Your Herefordshire:
“I was shocked to be the first one here, in fact I went home briefly at 4am to get some coffee, when I came back I still had my place at the front of the queue.”
Graham had somebody to talk to around an hour later when he was joined by Emma D’Sylva who said, “I thought I would be the first here, but I was 2nd, me and Graham kept each other company.”
Sarah Lawrence was the 3rd person in the queue and she commented, “I was up at 4.30am. I wanted to get one of the envelopes, it’s been nice chatting to people in the queue and keeping everyone chatting.”
The store opened at 8am this morning. Gareth Cook who is the marketing manager told us:
“It’s been a fantastic morning, one of the best turnouts we have ever had. We had 137 people in the queue. It’s brilliant to see the community spirit in Hereford, you don’t see this in every store, people have been travelling from distance to visit us. We had Warburtons here giving out samples and an Ice Cream van will be joining us soon. It’s been an absolute pleasure opening the store this morning to the people of Hereford.”
