Hundreds paid tribute to Jamal as Jamal’s Kebab Shop was opened for one final time by members of his family on Saturday evening.
Family members opened the restaurant for two hours on Saturday afternoon, with free food offered to hundreds of people from the local community.
A message from the family of Jamal Haider was shared prior to the event:
“Hello. Dad always used to say that the day he retired from work, he would open up for one day and invite everyone to come to the shop and eat before he closes up.
“In reflection of this, we have decided to open the shop up on Saturday 2nd April 2022, for the people of Hereford. We are going to do this between 4pm and 6pm.
“We know many couldn’t attend the funeral and have been asking for a funeral reception/wake.
“In order to plan and to get an idea of rough numbers, we would be thankful if you could click ‘attending’.”
