The COVID-19 second wave continues to gain strength across the United Kingdom and the majority of Western Europe, with reports that the United Kingdom may join the likes of Germany and France, by imposing national lockdown restrictions, possibly as early as next week.
Closer to home, case numbers continue to rise, albeit at a slower rate than in many parts of the country. The infection rate in Herefordshire is closing in on the 100 cases per 100,000 population barrier that Herefordshire Council has said would see the county move into further restrictions. The council may not have to make any decision though, if the Prime Minister decides to implement national restrictions, such as close pubs, restaurants and non-essential retail.

NHS England confirmed yesterday that a further four patients that had tested positive for COVID-19 have sadly passed away, taking the total number of COVID-19 related deaths at hospitals in the county to 64 since the start of the pandemic.
A further 20 people were confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 in Herefordshire, meaning that in the past 7 days, 180 new cases have been recorded.
