There is optimism this afternoon that a popular community fireworks show will get the go-ahead from the Herefordshire Council Safety Advisory Group when they meet next week.
The fireworks at Tupsley Quarry are organised by the Central Tupsley Community Group and local councillor Jim Kenyon provided this update earlier today.
Jim said:
“Morning Tupsley folks, just an update on this years bonfire night. We have planned the event for Friday 5th November with gates to open at 5pm for rides and food. The fire will be lit at around 6:30pm then the fireworks will go ahead at 7pm for around 25 minutes. The event finishes around 8pm.
“Please walk to the event, but if you need to drive please park away from Quarry Road and/or arrange to park at friends houses. Please do not bring Sparklers.
“We have run this event for the past 10 years but this year is a little different with the threat of COVID-19 and additional paperwork and costs.
“This is still a free family friendly event and the stewards are all volunteers so please listen to their instructions and that of the tannoy system as they are there for your safety.
“On Tuesday we have to go before the Herefordshire Safety Advisory Group for their approval but we are confident we have all the correct paperwork in place and that we have planned this throughly.
“We have in place over 30 volunteers and if anybody would like to get involved with volunteering this time please do PM me, Pauline Strong or the Central Tupsley Community Group.
“More details will follow on Tuesday once we have confirmed permissions.”
