Taxi driver David Perry is being described as a hero this morning who probably saved numerous lives when his quick actions locked a person with explosives inside his taxi, shortly before an explosion outside a hospital in Liverpool on Sunday morning.

It was a busy Sunday morning in Liverpool with thousands attending the Remembrance Sunday Parade at Liverpool Cathedral but news soon came through that an incident had occurred at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Emergency services quickly attended the scene of the incident, where on person was confirmed dead and another person injured.

Greater Manchester Police (Counter Terrorism Unit) later released a statement saying:

Update on Counter Terrorism Police North West’s investigation after incident in Merseyside:

“Officers in Merseyside have made three arrests this afternoon after a car explosion outside the Women’s Hospital in Liverpool.

“The men – aged 29, 26, and 21 – were detained in the Kensington area of the city and arrested under the Terrorism Act, about the incident which occurred just before 11am today (Sunday 14 November).

“The passenger of the vehicle – a man – was declared dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

“The driver – also a man – was injured at the scene and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“Detectives from Counter Terrorism Police North West continue to keep an open mind about the cause of the explosion and are working closely with colleagues at Merseyside Police as the investigation continues at pace.”

News quickly spread on social media about the actions of the ‘heroic taxi driver’ with many sharing messages congratulating and thanking him for his efforts.
