Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate remains steady at 23 cases per 100,000 population, despite a huge increase in lateral flow testing as schools and other educational settings return to face to face learning. That combined with businesses being able to test their employees with these tests means that case numbers are expected to increase over the coming weeks, but a consideration must be taken for the huge uplift in testing.

In the seven day period ending 6th March, a total of 5,518 PCR COVID-19 tests were completed, with a positivity rate of 0.9% testing positive for the virus, this is down from a positivity rate of 10.9% in the seven day period ending 6th January 2021.

In the seven days ending 10th March, a total of 23,148 Lateral Flow COVID-19 tests were completed, this is significantly up on the seven days period ending 6th January 2021 when 12,130 Lateral Flow COVID-19 tests were completed.
