A Herefordshire resident is demanding answers from Herefordshire Council’s councillors after a Herefordshire based community group blasted a lack of support.
Annie MacDougall posted a strongly worded email that she has sent to Paul Walker of Herefordshire Council on Facebook after Herefordshire Community Recycling and Reuse Group volunteer and founder Andrew Wood criticised Herefordshire Council over a lack of support for his group.
Annie’s email to Paul Walker says:
Dear Mr Walker,
I am writing to you to ask why you and your council appear to be treating Herefordshire community recycling and re-use group with such a lack of courtesy.
You were scheduled to meet with Andrew Wood from this group yesterday. Not only did you not bother to turn up but neither you or the county councillor who was supposed to accompany you bother to send your apologies.
Now you may think that this is just a group of volunteers – which indeed it is. This group of volunteers is, voluntarily – ie:- in an unpaid capacity, doing the work that various council departments are being paid vast sums of taxpayers’ money to do.
Your council has consistently failed to step up to the plate in supporting the fantastic work that these people do. You have repeatedly failed to attend meetings, reneged on various pledges, and been rude and disrespectful in your disdain.
You as an individual are paid, before expenses, 5.5 times the median wage of people working in Herefordshire. You are tasked with running council services for the benefit of Herefordshire residents.
I would like to know why you are not falling over yourself to support Andrew and his group of volunteers and donors.
I look forward to reading your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Annie MacDougall.
