A Herefordshire pub is set to reopen to the public today, following a chimney fire that forced a temporary closure earlier this week.

Several fire crews from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a chimney fire at the Bunch of Carrots pub in Hampton Bishop on Tuesday afternoon.

An update on the Bunch of Carrots website (posted yesterday) says:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances we are not open today, however will be back open tomorrow (Thursday 21st April) and look forward to seeing you.”

The fire is believed to have caused minimal damage to the building.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said on Tuesday:

“Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hereford and Fownhope, as well as the aerial ladder platform from Hereford Fire Station were called at 14:06 on 19 April to a chimney fire at a public house in Hampton Bishop, near Hereford. Police (log 283i) and ambulance (log 4466) have also been called to attend.

“All persons have now been evacuated from the property and accounted for and there are no casualties. The fire is being fought using a nine-metre ladder, a roof ladder and two hosereels.”
