Herefordshire Liberal Democrats have selected Cllr Dan Powell to stand as the Parliamentary Candidate for Hereford and South Herefordshire and Cllr Cat Hornsey to stand as the Parliamentary Candidate for North Herefordshire at the General Election.
The Local Liberal Democrat Team gained a huge 14.3% swing in votes across the County in the May elections and both candidates spoke of the opportunity for our County as Herefordshire has only ever returned Conservative or Liberal Democrat MP’s to Parliament.
Cllr Dan Powell said, “I hear people across the County fed up and deeply concerned by the cost of living crisis.
“They feel let down by a Conservative government too busy breaking its own rules and infighting to make the improvements our area desperately needs.
“We look forward to working with communities, businesses and councillors across our constituencies to campaign for an economy that works for everyone, investment in our communities, transport and meaningful action on climate change.”
Cllr Cat Hornsey said, “Listening to people and experiencing first hand our over stretched services, we know we need better access to doctors, dentists and support for our hospital. We will be campaigning for the infrastructure needed to support our communities, Herefordshire deserves a united team who will stand up for a fair deal for our area.
“I am delighted to have been chosen by the Liberal Democrats to be their candidate at the next General Election, so that we can fight for the people of Herefordshire.”
