Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from across the area have been busy tackling a fire at a property in Tenbury Wells.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (Tenbury Fire Station) said:

“At 8.06am this morning we were mobilised to a house fire in Tenbury Wells.

“Within minutes we were on scene to discover the roof of the house fully involved in fire.

“The home owner was alerted to the fire by neighbours, and escorted out prior to our arrival.

“We made Pumps 4 ( an assistance message for further appliances) and the ALP (Aerial Ladder Platform).

“Whilst the other pumps were on their way, two BA wearers went into the property under Rapid Deployment to tackle the fire from the loft hatch using a hose reel.

“Covering jets and a main jet were set up in case of escalation.

“Once the other crews arrived we changed to Stage 1 and sectorised the incident – which means we had different crews working in different areas of the incident.

“The fire was quickly brought under control preventing further fire damage to the main house.

“Crews were able to salvage important items to the house owner and cover much of the furniture with salvage sheets in an attempt to reduce water damage as much as possible.

“Cutting away was then performed by crews in the ALP and crews working off 9m ladders. Using thermal imaging cameras crews were able to dampen down and put out any flare ups.

“In total there were 10 BA wearers throughout the incident, thermal imaging cameras use, small tools were used to cut away, 2 x 9m ladders, 2 x hose reel jets, working at height PPE and fire fighting media from the ALP.

“Thanks to crews from Bromyard Fire Station, Leominster Fire Station, the ALP from Hereford Fire Station and the Incident Command unit from Wyre Forest Fire Station who attended the incident. Also in attendance were several HWFR officers, Fire Investigation and Tenbury Cops.

“Crews left the incident at approx 1500hrs.

“A crew from Tenbury will be back at the property for reinspections over the next few hours so please don’t be alarmed to see our appliance there again shortly.”
