Speller Metcalfe has been appointed as the contractor for the redevelopment of Hampton Dene Primary School in Tupsley, Hereford.

The £2.4 million council-led initiative will deliver two brand-new classrooms, improved accessibility throughout the site, and expanded facilities within the school’s Language and Communication Centre, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The redevelopment also includes enhancements to the school’s parking area and outdoor spaces, creating a more welcoming and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Construction is scheduled to begin this autumn, with completion expected by early summer 2026.

This project forms part of a broader investment in education across Herefordshire, aimed at ensuring every child has access to high-quality, inclusive learning environments.

Councillor Harry Bramer, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Assets, said:

“The appointment of Speller Metcalfe to deliver this project is another positive step forward for the Hampton Dene Primary School community. The improvement works will provide modern, inclusive, and sustainable education facilities which will give students the space to thrive.”

Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, added:

“I’m pleased to see this project moving forward as part of our commitment to delivering high-quality inclusive education facilities that meet the needs of our children and young people.”

Further updates will be shared with parents, carers, and the wider community as the project progresses.
