Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have provided an update on a fire that occurred in Hereford yesterday evening.

The fire was reported underneath the railway bridge on Newtown Road (A49) on Monday evening, with smoke seen rising above the road.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Hereford Fire Station was called at 21:37 on 2 January to a fire in the open on Newtown Road in Hereford. 

“The crew discovered a fire, around 5m by 5m beneath a railway bridge and this was extinguished using a hosereel. 

“There were no casualties. The incident was marked as pending closure at 22:53 and no other emergency services attended.”
