Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews rescued a man from the River Wye in Hereford on Monday evening.

Members of the public reported seeing a significant emergency service presence near the River Wye, with rescue teams seen on the river bank near the Victoria Bridge.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“Three Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Hereford and one from Leominster Fire Stations – plus the boat crew from Hereford, the water first responders from Leominster and the Service drone from Ledbury, supported by a Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service boat crew from Hay-on-Wye were called at 17:57 on 13 November to a rescue from water at the Victoria Bridge in Hereford. 

“A man in his 40s was rescued from the bank side by fire service personnel and handed over to the care of the ambulance service.

“Police also attended. 

“The incident was marked as pending closure at 19:10.”
