Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were mobilised to a garage fire in Tenbury Wells on Friday.

An appliance from Leominster Fire Station was also sent to this incident.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (Tenbury Wells Fire Station) said:

“On arrival, crews were presented with a significant fire in a detached garage very close to the main property.

“Using two crew in breathing apparatus (BA), under rapid deployment, firefighters began to tackle the fire using hose reel jets.

“A curtain spray was put in between the garage and main house to prevent any further fire spread whilst tackling the fire.

“Once the main fire was extinguished, crews from Tenbury and Leominster began dampening down and cutting away to ensure there were no hot spots that could reignite.

“Sadly, a car stored in the garage was fully destroyed by the fire, and the crew used our tirfor winch to pull the vehicle out – creating more space in the garage to dampen down and investigate fully.

“Working at height equipment was also used to ensure the safety of the firefighters whilst removing some roof tiles after hot spots were detected.

“We left the scene at 1430 and returned at 1630 for a reinspection of the scene before closing the incident and handing over duty to the homeowner.

“Returning to station, all equipment was cleaned, and fire kit changed to ensure we were ready for any further fire calls.

“Later on, at 2126, we were tipped out again to provide standby cover at Wyre Forest but were stood down shortly after.

“We would like to wish you all a safe and happy Easter weekend.”
