Hereford Racecourse has sent a polite request to dog owners to ensure that their dogs avoid the frost covers that have been put down around the course ahead of Saturday’s meeting.
The covers have been put down with temperatures expected to drop well below freezing in Hereford over the coming nights, and only rising to just above freezing during the day.
In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson for Hereford Racecourse said:
“Please can all dog walkers keep dogs on leads and refrain from letting their dogs run over the covers as it causes irreparable damage. Thank you for your cooperation.”
In previous years, the frost covers have been damaged, adding additional costs for the racecourse.
