Press Release from Hereford Pride:
Hereford Pride 2025 is cancelled.
It’s now also with great sadness that we announce the organisation is also in the process of being wound down to closure.
This hasn’t been an easy decision for anyone currently involved in the organisation.
The current economic climate being such as it is and the dedication commitment and energy required for such a project wasn’t ultimately sustainable.
Like with any Pride the organisation and running relies solely on volunteers even at Director level with funding very difficult to obtain.
All strategic options were explored and the idea of new blood taking on the project were looked into.
However after much deliberation nothing could be facilitated.
Now more than ever Prides all round the world are vital to giving a voice to LGBTQ plus people so this makes us very sad we’ve had to come to such a decision. A lot of blood sweat and tears went into the creation of Hereford Pride and that certainly wasn’t lost on any one.
Hereford Pride was formed and created by the late John Walker he was a pioneer for LGBTQ plus rights he was a passionate man who strived to make Hereford a beacon of hope for the community that he loved most dear. We are deeply saddened that we were unable to continue his legacy but hope he would understand.
We would like to pay homage to those who played a crucial role in the process of putting on past events for the community Gem Roberts stead fast dedicated and one of the most driven individuals your ever meet, to you we say thank you for everything.
Dean Goodwin-Evans for hosting so many events, Boo la croux will forever be in our hearts, and Char Carter an absolute rock from the very early days and a founding member we say thank you also.
Multiple people were involved in this fantastic organisation at various levels and we thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts for making this happen.
All the performers all the stall holders and the volunteers we thank you immensely and you certainly have our unwavering eternal gratitude.
Lastly we thank you the people for attending our events in your droves your participation attendance meant the world to us and was why we worked hard to make past events so special.
