A heatwave is expected to affect Herefordshire at the end of this week and into the weekend. A welcome relief following weeks of average temperatures and plenty of rain and showers.

Temperatures across Herefordshire are expected to soar to 27c on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This means that the heatwave threshold will have been exceeded, meaning that this spell of weather can officially be classed as a heatwave in Herefordshire.

According to the Met Office, “a UK heatwave threshold is met when a location records a period of at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave temperature threshold.”

In Herefordshire, the threshold for a heatwave is temperatures exceeding 26c for three or more days in a row, which seems likely as we head towards the end of this week and into the weekend.
