Great news! A popular pub in a beautiful Herefordshire village is set to reopen! Yes you heard that right!

The Bateman Arms in Shobdon is set to reopen, after a change of heart from the owners.

An update shared on the Shobdon Village Facebook page earlier today said:

“Mike Pope together with Coach House Inns (CHI) are delighted to announce the re-opening of the Bateman Arms during week commencing 22nd May 2023.

“Following a review of the recent feedback regarding the potential sale, including the desire shown by the village for the pub to re-open, Mike and CHI have decided to commit to the Bateman Arms and reopen the venue.”

Mike says “We want to have a lovely pub which is welcoming to all. With a menu of classic and modern dishes, serving local ales, great beer and ciders with a fantastic wine list.

“Together with Sarah and our family, I want the Bateman Arms to not only be a success, but also be a key part of the community for a long time to come.

“With the help and support of the community, we know we can make the pub a success and return it to its place as the hub of the community.

“The precise reopening date will be revealed closer to the date, as part of a number of updates to follow.
