A GP surgery in Herefordshire is asking all patients to wear face masks again, with COVID-19 cases rising in the county.

Ledbury Health Partnership issued the following update to patients yesterday:

“Please be aware, due to increasing levels of COVID, we have taken the decision to return to wearing facemasks in all of our buildings, unless you are exempt, please ensure you arrive for your appointment wearing a mask, to help protect yourself and others. Thank you for your understanding.”

The decision comes as COVID-19 cases rise sharply in the county. In the seven day period ending 1st July, a total of 490 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Herefordshire. This is a rise of 30.3% on the previous seven day period and gave a COVID-19 infection rate of 253.1 cases per 100,000 population. The number of actual cases is likely to be far higher, with free testing no longer available for the majority of the population.
