From Tenbury Fire Station:
“A busy day for our service yesterday with a large fire in Evesham resulting in lots of cover moves around the county.
“At 17:00 we were mobilised from Wyre Forest Fire Station, along with Hereford, who were mobilised from Bromyard Fire Station to a domestic garage fire in Fountain Court, Great Witley.
“On arrival we were faced with a well developed garage fire with three houses at immediate risk from fire. Crews immediately got to work with two hose reels while evacuations were carried out, electrical supplies were isolated and a water supply secured. 4 breathing apparatus sets were used with the first crew using “Rapid Deployment” procedures. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
“Then on our way back we were flagged down by a motorist who had witnessed a buzzard being struck by a vehicle sustaining injuries meaning it could not fly. We stopped and called the RSPCA who asked us to take the bird back to station for them to come and collect it, to take to their animal centre for checks. The outlook was positive that following checks it would be able to be released back into the wild.”
