Friends of Castle Green have reported further damage that has been caused to The Clubhouse at Castle Green in Hereford.
In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the group said:
“Whilst we are doing everything we can to keep on top of the antisocial behaviour and vandalism that keeps occurring, it does start to get a bit disheartening to keep coming across this sort of mess!
“We’ve got plans for CCTV, but it takes time to sort out, meanwhile we’re constantly cleaning up the debris left overnight, not to mention the bottle tops, cigarette ends, used vapes, dirty nappies, broken glass, random pieces of clothing and litter strewn everywhere!
“If you can spare a few pennies for our crowdfunding campaign to help us stop these regular occurrences, it would be truly appreciated.”

“Friends of Castle Green CIC took over the former Bowling Club House and Green in January 2024 with the purpose of securing it as a community asset. Our plan is to reinvigorate the Club House building for use by the community as a space to hire for a multitude of purposes, from meetings, classes and clubs to outdoor events and festivals.
“We want to be there for the long-term to provide the community with a safe and sustainable space to be enjoyed by all, but we are suffering significantly with anti social behaviour which is costing us both time and money to sort out. We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but constant littering, graffiti, damage and destruction is wearing us down.
“We have exciting plans for the future that have been shaped by you, the community we are part of, to make the Club House an inclusive and welcoming space where everyone can find something valuable to engage with. We have had lots of suggestions for the future use of the The Club House, including youth activities, community kitchen, private hire space, outdoor event space etc but we need your support to make this a reality.
“It costs thousands of pounds to keep the Club House running every year.
“The last few months have been really challenging. We’ve been hit by multiple incidents of vandalism, including graffiti, damage to the Club House roof, littering and the destruction of the outside space, all of which are costing money to fix. Money that we don’t have because the building isn’t yet in a fit state to be hired out regularly.”
