People over 50 will be entitled to a free flu jab from the start of December, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed.
Over-50s can be vaccinated by their GP or pharmacist in England from 1 December, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “This winter is like no other, and we have to worry about the twin threats of flu and COVID-19.
“COVID means getting a flu jab is more important than ever this year. So we are delivering the largest ever flu vaccination programme.”
The news comes as the NHS has been told to prepare for the potential rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine from the start of December.
