With Hereford Fc completing the 2023/2024 season with a 2-0 home defeat to Boston. It meant the final game for Frank Williams who ran Radio Hereford FC since its inception in 2015

Frank told the Hereford FC fan site Bulls News why he has taken this decision.

‘I have decided that I will be stepping down from my role as Station Manager of Radio HerefordFC at the end of this season.

There are two main reasons for this:

Firstly the reduced mobility that I now have resulting from my stroke 8 years ago. This is progressively worsening and I shall be 73 in April so it is unlikely to improve.

Secondly, the distances involved. It is a 100 mile round trip to a home game and I am increasingly reliant on lifts for both home and away fixtures.

I have been offered a role creating a new radio station for Halesowen Town Football Club and  the local community which is a quarter of a mile from my home.

This will allow me to dedicate more time to the charity work my wife and I do for Target Ovarian Cancer in memory of our late daughter.

I am not going to give out a list of thanks. I will thank each individual personally over the coming weeks. I will also be able to attend Hereford matches as a fan for a change when time allows next season.

I will work closely with The Club and the Radio Station to ensure that everything is in place for what promises to be an exciting 2024-25.

Your Herefordshire Director Matt Healey, who is also the matchday announcer paid tribute to Frank

“Frank is one of the most knowledgeable people when it came to the technical side of things, and I picked his brain on numerous occasions for DJ equipment advice, he also worked tirelessly to upgrade the PA system in the close season and the sound quality we now enjoy are down to his work. He did a fantastic job going up and down the country with Radio Hereford FC and he will be missed, but we wish him well in his new role at Halesowen Town, which I believe is yards from his house”
