Four people have been arrested, following a pursuit where a motorist was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The incident, that happened just across the border in Wales, involved several officers, including a police dog.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said:

“A pursuit and four suspects in custody — all in a night’s work for our roads policing officers.

“While out on patrol in Ebbw Vale, officers spotted a stolen car being driven on the wrong side of the road.

“When the driver noticed the police vehicles, they made off — but our team was ready.

“Anticipating a pursuit, two stingers had already been set up down the road, and the driver ran straight over them as planned.

“Using specialist tactics, officers safely brought the vehicle to a stop and swiftly arrested three occupants.

“One person tried to escape on foot — but what they didn’t know was that PD Neo was full of energy and hot on their heels.

“After a short track, our su-paw-star found them hiding in a bush.

“Thanks to excellent teamwork, four people were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and were taken to custody.

“The stolen car was recovered and will soon be returned to its rightful owner.”
