Four areas of Herefordshire currently have some of the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the United Kingdom, data released by Public Health England has revealed.

The following areas of Herefordshire currently have an infection rate that is higher than 1,000 cases per 100,000 population: (Data for the seven day period ending 24th September)

Hereford East – 63 new cases (Infection rate of 1,060 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford South – 113 new cases (Infection rate of 1,155 cases per 100,000 population)

Hereford South West – 141 new cases (Infection rate of 1,703 cases per 100,000 population)

Belmont, Madley & Clehonger – 76 new cases (Infection rate of 1,109 cases per 100,000 population)

In the United Kingdom, 36,722 new cases were recorded (people positive), giving a total of 7,771,294.

Also in the United Kingdom, 150 new deaths were reported, giving a total of 136,525.
