Flood Alerts have been issued on rivers in Herefordshire following heavy overnight rain.

RIVER ARROW IN HEREFORDSHIRE:

River levels are forecast to rise at the Titley Mill river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall overnight tonight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from tomorrow morning, 02/02/21. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Arrow from Michaelchurch to Brierley. Other areas that may be affected include Kington, Staunton and Eardisland. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 36 hours. We expect river levels to rise until tomorrow afternoon, 02/02/21. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 10:00 on 02/02/21, or as the situation changes.

RIVER FROME IN HEREFORDSHIRE:

River levels are forecast to rise at the Bishops Frome river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall overnight tonight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible tomorrow morning, 02/02/21. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Frome from Bromyard to Hereford. Other locations that may be affected include Bishops Frome and Yarkhill. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 36 hours. We expect river levels to rise until tomorrow afternoon, 02/02/21. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water. RIVER LUGG SOUTH OF LEOMINSTER:

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Ford Bridge river gauge and remain high but steady at the Lugwardine river gauge following recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Lugg south of Leominster from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. Other locations that may be affected include Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop. Further rainfall is forecast overnight and this week, which may cause river levels to rise further. We expect river levels to remain high for several days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near local watercourses. RIVER LEADON CATCHMENT:

River levels are continuing to fall at the Wedderburn Bridge river gauge. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland continues. We expect flooding to be affecting low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Leadon. Locations that may be affected include Ledbury, Much Marcle, Staunton and Tibberton. Water is over the road at Upleadon Court. The level at the Wedderburn Bridge river gauge peaked on Thursday evening, 28/01/2021. Further rain is forecast over the next 48 hours. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. RIVER WYE IN HEREFORDSHIRE:

River levels remain high but are falling at the Mordiford and Ross-On-Wye river gauges. Consequently, flooding of roads & farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay on Wye to Ross on Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Further rainfall is forecast overnight and this week, and river levels may rise again as a result. We are monitoring the situation. Please avoid contact with flood water.
