Parts of Herefordshire were hit by thunderstorms on Thursday evening, causing funnel clouds and flash flooding in places.

The worst affected areas were to the east of Hereford, with the A438 (Hereford to Ledbury Road) and A4103 (Hereford to Worcester Road) partially blocked by flooding for a number of hours.

West Mercia Police were called to Tarrington to assist with traffic after cars got stuck in flood water and a funnel cloud was spotted during the storm in the Preston Wynne area by Michelle.

According to the radar, around 50mm of rain fell in just over an hour in some parts, with thunder and lightning accompanying the downpours.

It’s been a rather thundery week in the county, with downpours also causing flooding on Tuesday.

The next few days look much drier, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures reaching highs of 20c over the weekend.
