Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews in Hereford have carried out an extraordinary animal rescue.

Crews were called to the incident involving a deer in Hereford on Friday (13th June).

A spokesperson for Hereford Fire Station (Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service) said:

“Crews were mobilised to reports of an animal rescue in the College Hill area of Hereford.

“On arrival crews located one female deer trapped between a garden fence and the adjacent railway line. Initially crews exposed the area by removing the wooden fence panels in order to assess the deer’s condition.

“The deer was distressed, suffering lacerations from the entrapment. Firefighters administered oxygen therapy in order to calm the deer whilst implementing a release plan.

“After liaising with local veterinary practices the deer was released and placed in a kind neighbours garden shed until a further assessment could be carried out by a vet.”
